Dengan usia yang telah matang serta kondisi finansial yang sangat mapan, Gun sebenarnya telah siap untuk menikah, tetapi satu hal yang selalu menahannya adalah Kang Se Ra (Wang Ji Won), sahabatnya sejak kecil sekaligus kekasih yang telah ia kencani selama enam tahun. Selama itu, Se Ra tengah fokus pada karirnya sebagai penari balet di New York, Amerika Serikat, sehingga ia selalu menunda untuk melanjutkan hubungannya dengan Gun ke tahap yang lebih serius, yaitu pernikahan. Adalah Tuan Park (Jung Eun Pyo) dan Tuan Choi (Im Hyung Joon), dalang di balik segala kisah yang berawal di Macau ini. Tuan Park adalah pemilik perusahaan sabun di pulau yang juga merupakan kampung halaman Mi Young, sedangkan Tuan Choi adalah pegawai Tuan Park yang juga adalah kakak ipar Mi Young. Mereka berdua mencoba menjebak Gun dalam skandal, dalam rangka untuk mencegah pria itu menjual pabrik sabun tempat mereka bekerja. Mereka berdua membuat ramuan yang sanggup membuat peminumnya sangat mabuk dan lupa diri. Singkat cerita, Gun meminum ramuan itu, begitu juga dengan Mi Young, karena ketidaksengajaan. Malam itu, Gun dan Mi Young tidur bersama. Lalu keesokan paginya, mereka berdua saling mendapati apa yang telah terjadi di antara mereka dalam keterkejutan.

Sebelum Macau, Lee Gun dan Kim Mi Immature pernah bertemu sebelumnya di sebuah pusat perbelanjaan. Chemistry yang dihadirkan oleh pasangan pemeran karakter utama, Jang Hyuk dan Jang Nara, tidak dapat diragukan lagi, adalah salah satu terbaik yang pernah saya temukan. CEO Jo pun menugaskan anak laki-lakinya, Jo Geun Woo (Shin Sung Rok), untuk menggantikannya sebagai CEO Shine Star Entertainment selama beberapa waktu. "Trot Lovers", atau yang dikenal juga dengan judul "Lovers of Trot", "Trot Romance", dan "Lovers of Music", adalah serial drama yang terdiri dari 16 episode. Series komedi romantis ini mengudara pada bulan Juni hingga Agustus 2014 dan ditayangkan oleh stasiun televisi KBS. Meskipun menggunakan formula yang telah banyak ditemukan dalam serial drama Korea Selatan, yaitu komedi romantis yang dibumbui dengan melodrama, "Trot Lovers" mengangkat tema musik yang jarang atau bahkan belum pernah dijadikan fokus dalam series drama lainnya, yaitu musik trot. Musik trot adalah hasil fusion antara musik tradisional Korea Selatan dan musik pop, yang terkenal dengan 'cengkok vokal'nya sebagai ciri khas yang membedakan musik ini dengan jenis musik lainnya. Dengan dunia industri musik sebagai latar belakang, "Trot Lovers" tidak hanya menghadirkan kisah cinta semata, melainkan juga kisah tentang perjuangan anak manusia dalam meraih mimpi, menemukan cinta, dan memaknai hidup.

Jang Joon Hyun dan Choi Chun Hee hidup dalam dua dunia yang berbeda, namun selalu ada jalan, bahkan yang paling tak masuk akal sekalipun, ketika dua orang manusia telah ditakdirkan untuk bersama. Jalinan takdir bisa saja memisahkan mereka sejauh apapun, membuat salah satu atau bahkan keduanya hilang ingatan, namun apabila telah dituliskan bahwa mereka adalah jodoh, maka takdir itu akan selalu mempertemukan mereka kembali. Selain itu, segala perkara yang dihadirkan oleh satu generasi dan tak dapat diselesaikan di generasi tersebut, maka generasi berikutnyalah yang harus mengakhirinya. Alam semesta akan selalu menemukan caranya sendiri untuk menyeimbangkan segala sesuatu. Mungkin jalannya memang tak selalu lurus, mungkin rutenya memang harus berputar-putar terlebih dahulu, namun ujungnya akan selalu sama.

"Trot Lovers" merupakan comeback project bagi aktor dan penyanyi Ji Hyun Woo ke layar kaca, setelah selesai menunaikan tugas wajib militernya. Serial ini memasangkan Ji dengan aktris sekaligus penyanyi, salah satu anggota dari girl group A Pinkish, Jung Eunji. Ji dan Jung berkali-kali menyanyikan lagu secara duet dalam serial drama ini, and I really love their harmony! I was so sad when I found out that the soundtrack anthology didn't contain of songs that Ji and Jung sang together in the series. Well I tin say that this serial had the perfect cast. Menariknya, aktor Shin Sung Rok, yang sebelumnya terkenal berkat peran jahatnya dalam series "You Who Came From the Star", berhasil menghidupkan karakter Jo Geun Woo yang jauh bertolak belakang dengan karakter jahat yang sebelumnya ia perankan. He really nailed it! Over all, I love the way the story of this series flowed. It'southward all-in-one-packet series; one-act, romance, melodrama, it got information technology all. Indeed, "Trot Lovers" is very entertaining. And of course, it's recommended.
